Holiday and family visit
You must have a destination in the Netherlands and be able to prove this. Prove can be provided by handing over, for example, a hotel reservation or an invitation from a sponsor in the Netherlands. A sponsor will be the person you are going to stay with, for example your family member. The sponsor has to fill in and sign a proof of guarantee and/or private accommodation.
It is very important that you also inform the authorities that you have sufficient reasons to return to your country of origin simulantiously with your application. The mere presentation of a return ticket is not enough for this purpose. At Berte Advocaten we notice that most applications for a short-stay visa are rejected because the social and economic link with the country of origin has not been sufficiently proven and therefore there are doubts as to whether the person in question will return after the visa has expired.
Once a visa has been issued to you and you have returned within the deadline, it is important that you report your return to the embassy or consulate. If you fail to do so, this may cause problems in the future.
Did the authorities reject your visa application? You can object this decision within four weeks.
